| The full Bata headquarters on Eglinton Avenue East. This is a composite of 3 pictures, which fit together better than I expected -- I was going for a more 'artistic' look...
The building has been a landmark since it was buit back in 1965 -- designed by John B. Parkin, the "building floats at the crest of the long expanse of grass on the north side of Eglinton. (from Built Heritage News - Issue No 68). It sounds like final approval has been given to tear down this wonderful example of modernist-era architecture, but plans for its replacement sound even more grand - a $200-million Aga Khan cultural centre, museum and public park. | |||||||||||||
