Bata blues :: November 20, 2005
Another somewhat surreal photograph, this time due to even more processing and the addition of the blue tint.
I thought it was a good transition from yesterday's picture, into a few pictures I'll be posting from the old Bata headquarters on Eglinton Avenue East. The building has been a landmark since it was buit back in 1965 -- designed by John B. Parkin, the "building floats at the crest of the long expanse of grass on the north side of Eglinton. (from Built Heritage News - Issue No 68). It sounds like final approval has been given to tear down this wonderful example of modernist-era architecture, but plans for its replacement sound even more grand - a $200-million Aga Khan cultural centre, museum and public park.
